Description: |
We will discuss the structure of the two breeds of alpaca fiber, cleaning, and preparation of the fiber for five different styles of yarn and explore how alpaca blends with silk and wool to produce yummy yarns with warmth, drape and sparkle. The techniques will include, but are not limited to, woolen spun, worsted spun, on the fold textured, cloud yarn, and core spun novelty yarns. There will be a discussion on how and when to “bloom” alpaca yarns for the best appearance and use. |
